I had a great time at the Ridgedale Library last night, sharing some of the places in the book, expounding on my philosophy of kid-led adventures, and learning about some new places (though I was sworn to secrecy on a couple). I also picked up some tips that I’ll be sharing here over the coming weeks; I love learning from experienced adventurers, so if you have any tips to share feel free to leave a comment, send an e-mail, write on the Facebook wall, or send a tweet!
Speaking of Twitter, you ought to be following Plymouth-Golden Valley Macaroni Kids, especially if you live in the west metro. I had the good fortune to meet Jill and Alana, who run the Plymouth-Golden Valley Macaroni Kids site, and they had lots of great information about activities in that part of town.
The focus of our conversation last night was the Museum Adventure Pass program, which lets you check an adventure out from the library. We talked about what you’ll see at the Foshay Tower, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Walker Museum, and Bakken Museum, and shared tips about other adventures. A big thanks to Hennepin County Library for putting this together!
Attendance was a little low, due no doubt to last night’s glorious weather–but I’d rather have people stay away because of good weather than bad! In case you weren’t able to come, I’ve put up a web version of the presentation I gave (web, PDF, and OpenOffice presentation versions available), though this is really just the outline. The fun of an event like this is the back-and-forth with the audience.
